The Unrivalled Beauty of Flowers

I come from a family of creative women. One of my grandmothers was an artist who painted in fauvist colours, the other was a baker who made delectable fairy cakes. As children, my sisters and I were taught to immerse ourselves in the West Sussex countryside where we grew up. Combing the woodland for make believe treasures and picking blackberries from along the cinder track provided endless inspiration for our own artistic endeavours. The love of flowers I developed as a result has stayed with me throughout my life and their unrivalled beauty is the guiding influence behind my work as a cake designer.

For me, flowers are at their most glorious when viewed in an array of colour, with different varieties jostling for space. Modern floristry designs are awash with wildly romantic, sprawling arrangements that let the flowers speak for themselves and this has been been hugely inspiring for me in my compositions.

Tunbridge Wells, Kent, is where I now call home and it is here that I have created my business, making floral wedding and celebration cakes with handcrafted, sugar flowers that aptly pay tribute to the splendour of an event.
